Citizen, one of the leading payment options in the online betting scene, has announced Toby Sucharov as its new Chief Technology Officer. Before joining Citizen, Sucharov served as the Head of UK Innovation and later as Head of Games Platform as a Service (GPAS) at Playtech.

Citizen Company Makes a New Crucial Appointment

Sucharov brings a wealth of experience in the iGaming industry in expanding technology products to serve hundreds of sports betting operators worldwide. Before Playtech, Sucharov worked with William Hill in the automated sports pricing systems department.

Citizen has recently made several new senior appointments to bolster its strategic plans and global appeal. One of the most significant appointments at the company is that of Sarah Ahle, now the Head of Compliance.

James Neville, the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Citizen, said the firm is preparing for greater expansion in the latter half of 2023. Therefore, it is essential to have an exceptional leadership team to propel and sustain the venture.

Neville added:

“Toby brings a great wealth of experience from the iGaming sector and in scaling-up technology solutions, and we look forward to working with him on our mission to simplify the way we pay by leveraging innovations in alternative payment methods.”

The payment service provider hopes that Sucharov’s appointment as the Chief Technology Officer will boost the company’s account-to-account payment service to businesses in several industries and locations.

Commenting on his new appointment, Sucharov said he is thrilled to be part of the accelerator phase for Citizen, a company with a reliable product that can benefit many industries. He is confident that the company will expand further and is delighted to have a role in its future advancement.

The new CTO added:

“Coming from an iGaming background, from the moment I saw the technology that underpins Citizen’s payment solution I understood the potential of the product. Whilst on the surface, open banking is about secure payments, I believe the added ability to link users to their bank accounts and prove ownership through multi-factor authentication will be a game-changer in industries that are a target for fraud, or that have rigorous know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.”

But the departure of Sucharov doesn’t seem to affect Playtech’s operations. The sports betting technology supplier recently announced a deal with La Française des Jeux (FDJ), one of the leading gambling operators in France. Playtech will provide its poker network services to the French operator in this deal.
