bet365 Launches in Iowa after Signing Deal with a Local Casino Operator

bet365 is among the leading sports betting sites in North America and worldwide. The bookmaker has previously made clear its intentions to conquer the regulated sports betting market in the United States. That was recently proved after the betting brand signed a multi-year contract with Casino Queen Marquette in Iowa. 

Following the agreement, Iowa became the fifth jurisdiction in the United States to welcome a popular sports betting site. In January this year, bet365 completed a deal with Cleveland Guardians to launch in Ohio. At the same time, the bookie signed an agreement with NFL's Washington Commanders to launch operations in Virginia. 

Back in January, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission allowed Casino Queen Marquette to relocate from the Mississippi River to land. The retail betting firm also owns the Q Sportsbook application.

In April 2020, $172.6 million was wagered on sports betting in the state, representing a 2.7% decline from the same month in 2019 and 25.8% less than the amount in March. Out of this total, $157.5 million was wagered online, with retail sportsbooks contributing $15.1 million.

In March 2023, Iowa recorded growth in year-on-year sports betting revenue despite a revenue dip compared to the previous month. Retail and online betting firms recorded $232.6 million in player spending, which was 20% higher than in February. Also, players at regulated online sports betting sites wagered $209 million of the total amount.
