After making a name for itself as one of the largest bookmakers in the United Kingdom and Europe, bet365 is actively expanding its presence across the United States. Denise Coates, its founder, has recently been among the leading individual taxpayers in the UK.

Bet365 Continues US Expansion with the Gaming License in Arizona

The UK-based sports betting operator has secured the coveted event betting license in Arizona, United States. This was after the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) cleared bet365 to become Grand Canyon State's 17th regulated online sportsbook. The regulator granted this license after consultations with the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

bet365 is yet to announce its launch date in the state. However, the law allows any licensed sports betting operator to launch within 180 days of receiving the license.

In October 2022, Fubo Sportsbook ended its operations in Arizona after an in-depth strategic review. This automatically left the Ak-Chin Indian Community without a partner for online sports betting, with the search for a replacement commencing immediately.

Following the accreditation, bet365 is now legal in six jurisdictions across the United States. Besides Arizona, the company is also legal in the following states:

  • Colorado
  • Iowa
  • New Jersey
  • Ohio
  • Virginia

A statement released by the industry regulator reads:

"The application window for event wagering licenses opened on August 1, 2023 and closed on August 15, 2023. Applicants were required to submit their completed applications within this timeframe in order to have been considered for an event wagering license," according to a statement issued by ADG."

Recently, the international sports betting site has been enjoying immense success in the United States. Before acquiring the Arizona license, bet365 secured another milestone accreditation in Kentucky. In addition, the bookmaker plans to accept anyone aged 18 and over, unlike most betting sites with a minimum age limit of 21 years.

In June, the bookmaker made its official debut in Iowa after receiving a license from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. This took the total number of states under the operator's roster to five.
