Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday, which means that there will be an abbreviated NBA schedule featuring only two games before the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs meet in Super Bowl 58. Today, however, is a busy day in the Association with 11 games on the schedule, starting with the Oklahoma City Thunder visiting the Dallas Mavericks (3:00 pm ET, NBA TV).

Just as they were when the two teams met on December 2, the Thunder are favored for today’s matchup. Kyrie Irving didn’t play in that game, a 126-120 OKC win, but he should be in action for the Mavericks this afternoon despite being listed on the injury report. When Irving has been on the court this season, the Mavs are 18-12 SU, including a 10-6 mark at home. Without him, they are just 4-7 SU at home. They are also 4-7 SU and ATS as a home underdog this season, and they are winless straight up and against the spread in each of their last four home games as a home underdog. If you’re hankering to bet on the Thunder this afternoon, that is encouraging. But what isn’t encouraging is OKC’s middling record when favored by three or fewer points. They are 20-14 ATS as a favorite this season, but they are just 5-8 ATS when favored by three or fewer points. That is a concern, but as must as Doncic is must-see TV, the Mavericks ultimately aren’t really to be trusted in many circumstances, including this spot as a home underdog.
Prediction: Thunder to win and cover
In the previous meeting with the Thunder, Doncic had 36 points, 15 rebounds, and 18 assists, one of his nine triple-doubles this season. That was without Kyrie, but even with Irving in the lineup today, expect another huge game for Luka. Over his last ten games, he has gone over 52.5 points + rebounds + assists eight times and is averaging 37.9 PPG, 11.2 RPG, and 10.5 APG. His 73-point game against the Hawks certainly skews that PPG number some, but it is also one of eight 30+ point games in this stretch. Also, while there’s a lot of juice with the over on his threes prop, it’s worth the investment, as Luka has made four or more threes in each of his four games to start February.
